Sunshine streams

Through colorful leaves,

Songs of change

Whisper in the breeze,

Rhythms rejoice

In the leaves rustling,

Happiness hums

In the children bustling,

Aroma of ciders

Dances upon the air,

Autumn skies burst

With blue bright and clear,

And all around me,

Yes, everywhere I go,

Your love, O Lord,

Does radiantly show.

In the lovely seasons

As they progress,

Your wisdom, my Jesus,

I humbly confess.

Like the seasons

May I be faithful too,

Showing in all things

My deep love for You.

Like the leaves

May I gratefully release

All I know

That Your heart I please.

Like the skies

May I allow Your light

To shine through me

With glory and might.

And like the children

Happy in this season,

May I remember my joy

Is rooted in One Reason,

Yes, as happiness hums

In the children bustling,

As rhythms rejoice

In the leaves rustling,

And as sunshine streams

Through colorful leaves,

I sing of Your love

That brings me to my knees!

Shaking Things Up

Shaking Things Up - Business Tip by Business Coach Caroline Gavin

Business Tip Shaking Things Up

Purposeful Pathway is the haven for faith-based entrepreneurs. Part of my mission is equipping faith-based businesses with information that is practical, actionable and Scriptural.

The theme of this post is shaking things up!

God has been gracious to remind me that business and life are intimately interrelated, just as are the mind and body and spirit. A shift in one area creates a shift in all areas.

When we experience stagnancy in business, “shaking things up” not only on the business front but also in the personal front can bear amazing business fruit. We see new opportunities, our creative juices flow and our joy begins to burgeon.

How can we shake things up to boost our faith-based businesses? Here are seven practical and powerful ways.

  1. Drive a new route. Take the scenic way. Dare to get lost. Savor new sights. Discover new territory. Experience new beauty. This seemingly small step can provide a powerful boost in creativity and joy.
  2. Find new foods. Be intentional about buying new a food every time you shop. Go ahead and buy that vegetable with the tongue-twisting name that you have yet to try. Look up ways to prepare it. Pick out that exotic fruit. Experiment with that recipe that has long intimidated you. Treating the taste buds opens up the “taste” of the heart to new ideas and insights in all areas, including our businesses.
  3. Have fun with furniture. Create a new perspective by moving your desk, your couch or your dining room table. Moving furniture is an effective yet inexpensive way to create a new look and inspire a new view.
  4. Donate with delight. Letting go of things is a powerful way to shake things up and bust through stagnancy. Bless others in giving them what they need by donating what you no longer want. “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.” (Proverbs 19:17)
  5. Be a tourist in your town. Walk the scenic trails, explore the state forests and preserves, and visit the historical sights. Being a tourist in your town or city opens your eyes to the treasures in your own back yard (and in your own business).
  6. Connect the dots. Reconnect with old friends and connect with new ones. Relationships are remarkable sparks for joy and creativity…and wonderful windows to opportunity!
  7. Wonderfully worship. Find new ways to worship the Lord. Take your quiet time to a mountain top. Infuse your devotionals with music. Sing the psalms. Dance with delight before Jesus. Finding new and wonderful ways to worship deepens your gratitude, increases your blessing and strengthens your connection with the Almighty!

We are created to flow and to be in movement. “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8) So go ahead and shake things up to inspire your soul!

If you need help with “shaking things up” or with building your business overall, I invite you to attract your ideal clients and powerfully boost your business over the next 40 days! There is no need to reinvent the wheel. I have organized my knowledge and experiences in business into an implementable 40-day series of actionable daily steps, instructional videos and powerful worksheets. If you need a serious boost in business, I encourage you to take the next step by visiting  Purposeful Pathway Business Academy today!

Let’s pray. Faithful Father, we call on You to rekindle the creativity in our lives. Help us to shake things up as we follow the lead of Your Spirit. Help us to open our eyes to new sights, our minds to new insights, our hearts to new inspiration. Fill us, Father, to overflowing with Your Spirit that we may bring glory to You in all we do. We savor every step with You on this purposeful pathway. It’s in Jesus’ Name that we pray. Amen.

You Have to Do it Perfectly – Not!

You Have to Do it Perfectly – Not!

Almost every client I’ve worked with through the Today’s the Day coaching has had one or more days where they “messed up.”  Whether it was eating an entire loaf of banana bread with butter (yes, one client did that!) or an unplanned meal out with very few acceptable choices, they were almost always hesitant to tell me what happened.  In fact usually they avoided emailing me and when I reached out expressing concern, they reluctantly admitted what happened.

And my response was and is always the same: “Ok. Then what did you do?” Invariably they would say, “I went right back to eating clean.” I assured them that this was exactly what they needed to do and that one day off was not going to ruin everything they’d worked for to that point. And it didn’t! They all ended up reaching their goal – even the banana bread lady!

It’s actually good that things like that happen during the 7 weeks because they will most definitely happen once the coaching is over. One of the basic principles in my plan is the 90/10 rule (page 92 in the book). As long as you eat clean and healthy 85-90% of the time, the other 10-15% isn’t going to make much difference. It’s only when you go off and one day turns into 3 weeks that you can really sabotage yourself.

Beating yourself up, feeling guilty and ashamed of yourself is totally counterproductive and a huge waste of time!  And if they were waiting for me to scold them, that was not going to happen.  I have a confession to make. I don’t eat perfectly 100% of the time.  Sshhh – don’t tell anyone!

In fact I don’t know anyone who does. A lady I worked with at a previous job knew I was also a health coach. So she told me she was embarrassed to tell me what she ate because she just knew I would never approve. Who died and made me the nutrition police?? It’s not my place or job to judge anyone else. When I work with clients I provide accountability, support, encouragement, information and motivation. But there’s no place for condemnation, guilt or shame. We are all on this journey together and none of us – me included – does it perfectly. Let’s shoot for doing it the best we can instead. That makes more sense to me.

How do you feel about not doing it perfectly?

Effective Facebook Marketing

Effective Facebook Marketing

Effective Facebook Marketing

All You Do Christian Poem

Purposeful Pathway is the haven for faith-based entrepreneurs. Part of my mission is equipping faith-based businesses with information that is practical, actionable and Scriptural.

The theme of this post is effective Facebook marketing!

Social media can be a very powerful medium for marketing.  Yet social media can also drain a lot of time and energy from an entrepreneur if there is no clear-cut plan.

How can you leverage social media, specifically Facebook, for your faith-based business?

  1. Use consistently a Facebook page in addition to a profile. You can most certainly build relationships via a profile, but Facebook pages include analytics and applications that profiles do not have. Friends can become jaded when they see too many marketing posts on a personal profile, but they expect enriching business-related information on a page.
  2. Build a fan base you will be excited to serve. Building a fan base is not an end in itself. Thoughtfully build a base of potential ideal clients. Offer something compelling for free, such as eBook or an exclusive interview audio; think of your ideal client when you create this offer. What does he or she need most? Build an opt-in form for this offer on your Facebook page; you can then deliver the gift via email and consequently stay in touch. The benefits are twofold in this situation: you attract potential clients to your page, and you build your mailing list. Both allow you to nurture relationships.
  3. Keep an engaged page. One method for increasing engagement is by liking fan pages that your ideal client would like; do so using your fan page. For example, if you are a health coach, your ideal client may like pages for weight loss tips, health clubs, health food stores, wellness centers and healthy recipes. In terms of connecting with local clients, look for local venues and local pages. Once you have liked these pages, consistently engage with the posts from these pages (commenting from your page rather than your profile); doing so will allow the followers of these pages to see your page and also potentially like and engage on your page.
  4. Host joint ventures and offer special promotions with owners from other pages. Doing so allows all page owners to expand their followings.
  5. Build relationships with your personal profile too. Join groups that attract your ideal clients and actively participate by sharing your posts and promotions in these groups. You can also befriend local media, community organizations and local businesses.  In sharing their posts, you will be a rich resource for your ideal clients.
  6. Do not forget Facebook ads. Although there is a cost involved, Facebook ads can be very effective and can provide a great return on investment. Before you invest in Facebook ads, clarify your ideal client demographics and also create a compelling ad with an irresistible offer.
  7. As with all marketing, put yourself into your clients’ shoes. What are they thinking? What do they need? With whom are they talking? What is their biggest problem expressed in their words? How can you bring value to them? Before you sign onto Facebook or social media in general, pray about providing what your ideal client most needs to receive from you. The more we step out of ourselves and into the heads and hearts of our clients, the more we attract them and the more we are able to serve them.

The mission of our faith-based businesses, after all, is to serve others and to glorify God with the gifts He has given us! These seven steps for effective Facebook marketing will allow Facebook to be one avenue in which you are able to do just that.

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:10-11

If you need help with Facebook marketing or with building your business overall, I invite you to attract your ideal clients and powerfully boost your business over the next 40 days!

Let’s pray. Faithful Father, You created us to be in relationship with us. How blessed we are by Your love for us. As we build relationships with others, help us to do so always from a space of love and service. Help us, Father, to glorify You in all that we do. Bless every step of our purposeful pathway. It’s in Jesus’ Name that we pray. Amen.

What Really is Healthcare Reform?

What Really is Healthcare Reform?

Guest Post by Heart and Soul Health Coach Mike Fenton

When we look at healthcare reform it can sometimes be confusing as to what that really means because it can mean something different to us all. For some it can mean lower health care costs, and for some it means purchasing something they were not required to have before now.

Everyone is now being mandated that they purchase healthcare insurance as part of this so-called “healthcare reform”. But what does the requirement to purchase medical insurance have to do with healthcare reform? It should be more aptly named medical healthcare insurance reform.

Real healthcare reform begins in the home and it starts with eating nutritionally sound foods and participating in some form of physical exercise on a somewhat frequent basis. Will the new “healthcare reform” do anything to change the obesity epidemic, or have an impact on the 25.8 million children and adults in the United States (8.3% of the population) that have diabetes? Or the 7.0 million people that are currently undiagnosed diabetics? Or worse yet the 79 million people that are pre-diabetic?

Really healthcare reform could and would impact this group along with many more like it through the education of and the promotion of good health, nutritional guidance and exercise. It is not about who gets stuck with the tab for our last office visit. It is about eating better and incorporating some form of exercise into our life, even if it is just an evening stroll around the block.

How can we effect real healthcare reform? By making better choices when it comes to what we eat, sure it takes a little longer to make something that is not already pre-packaged, but when we look at the costs (our health) it should be a decision that leaves little room for thinking. When faced with problems such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol, we must make every attempt to get them under control through diet and exercise instead of using prescription medications where sometimes the side-effects are worse than the malady itself.

Recently, Ann Musico Holistic Health Coach and Dr. Brent Hunter reported on the effects stress has on our health. On separate occasions both made reference to the overwhelming evidence that most diseases are stress related.

We can live a longer healthier life by learning to release the stress that builds inside of us daily. Free yourself from the world of “I have to have it yesterday and focus on the here and now. By freeing ourselves of stress or at least trying to minimize it we can prevent many of the deadly diseases our world faces today.

This is when and where real healthcare reform begins.

“He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” ~ Colossians 1:17

Precious are the moments

I share with You,

Savoring Your every word,

Delighting in all You do.

Timeless are the treasures

You share with me,

Refreshing my soul,

Whispering of eternity.

Luminous is the light

On my path You shine,

Paving every step

With Your love divine.

Radiant are the riches

Upon me You shower,

Reminding me always

Of grace and power.

Sweet are the skies

That You paint above

With clouds dancing freely

In timeless love.

Yes, precious and timeless,

Luminous and sweet,

Are the blessings I find

As I kneel at Your feet.

For everything is Yours,

All is under Your reign,

So in Your presence

All good things I gain.

The loveliest gift

Is the life You give,

You poured of Yourself

That I would live.

So I sing of treasures

You share with me,

I praise Your Name

For all eternity.

Yes, Jesus, I rejoice

In all I have in You;

You are my inspiration,

The joy in all I do!

Biz Tip: Letting Go with the Leaves

Business Post: Letting Go with the Leaves

Letting Go with the Leaves

Letting Go with the Leaves Christian Business Tip

Autumn is to me a sacred and special time of year. The beauty of the trees seems to culminate in a remarkable rainbow of color. The winds stir the soul with precious promises. The cool weather inspires deep introspection.

In watching recently the leaves dance from the trees, I was reminded of the wisdom in nature. Although the leaves are at their peak of beauty, the trees let go of them. The trees let go simply because it is time to let go.

These very leaves dancing in the Autumn breeze will fertilize the winter ground and become the substance for springtime leaves to grow. So much we can learn from this beautiful cycle. How important it is for us to let go, for in doing so we nourish our roots and encourage new growth.

How can we apply the awesome wisdom of Autumn in our faith-based businesses?

  1. Enjoy precious moments to ponder. Sit still in God’s presence. “He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’” (Psalm 46:10) Hear His wisdom. Heed His voice. Harken to His call. Bask in the sunshine, watch the leaves dance and feel the invigorating winds. Allow the rhythm of the seasons to stir your soul. “He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.” (Daniel 2:21)
  2. Request of God what needs to be released. What items? What relationship? What resentment? What activity? What goal? What desire? What habit? “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (James 1:5) Journal the wisdom you gain from Jesus when asking these questions. Document these discoveries without judgment. List everything from a space of love.
  3. Commit to let go with the leaves. Preferably in an inspiring space, commit to release these various things just as the leaves are released to Autumn winds. Place all in God’s hands.
  4. Prepare with a plan. Create a plan for this release. For example, how will you release the items? Donate to a charity? Sell on eBay? Host a garage sale? How will you release an unhealthy relationship? Does doing so require a letter? A conversation? Or simply a shift in your perspective? How will you release the activities? The habits? The desires? Create plans with time-lined steps.
  5. Follow through with faithfulness. Move forward with your plans by leaning on your Father. Expect discomfort in the process; yet expect also divine comfort to follow your heartfelt prayers. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4) Letting go provides breathing space for healing and growth. Release engenders rejuvenation, revitalization and refreshment. Surrender brings sublime peace.
  6. Wait with wonder. Wait on God to bring about the phenomenal fruit of lovingly letting go. “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31) Document this fruit in your journal.
  7. Rejoice in your release. You will notice beautiful breakthroughs in life and business when you lovingly let go. Rejoice in this fruit and give glory to God!

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)

If you need help with this powerful process…I invite you to attract your ideal clients and powerfully boost your business over the next 40 days!

Let’s pray. Faithful Father, we rely on you as we release according to Your will. Grant us Your wonderful wisdom, pave our purposeful paths and shed Your luminous light. Give us strength to let go in order to lovingly embrace Your will. Allow us to bear remarkable fruit from this release for Your glory. It’s in Jesus’ Name that we pray. Amen.

“Ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you. Which of these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.” ~ Job 12:7-10

Look at the birds,

What do you see?

Do you appreciate a dance

Orchestrated by Me?

Listen closely to the sea,

What do you hear?

Do you sense My symphony

Splashing ever clear?

Breathe deep in the garden,

What do you smell?

Do you taste Heaven

More than words tell?

Embrace the sunshine,

What do you feel?

Do you experience love

Ever perfect, ever real?

Yes, look and listen closely,

Breathe, feel and taste,

Let no precious moment

Ever go to waste.

For all around you,

In each and every thing,

Are wondrous windows

To my endless blessing.

I love you immeasurably,

So My gifts abound;

Open your eyes to miracles

Unfolding all around.

Listen closely to the sea,

Be still to hear

My sweet eternal symphony

Splashing ever clear.

And as the birds dance,

Delight in what you see,

For these gifts, My child,

Open your eyes to Me.

Harvesting Low-Hanging Fruit

Low-Hanging Fruit

Christian Biz Tip Harvesting Low-Hanging Fruit

Purposeful Pathway is the haven for faith-based entrepreneurs. Part of my mission is equipping faith-based businesses with information that is practical, actionable and Scriptural.

The theme of this post is harvesting low-hanging fruit!

Autumn is officially here, and it is a glorious time of year! The leaves are aflame with color. The winds refresh the soul. The clear blue skies sing of God’s glory.

Fall activities, too, are in full swing. One of my favorite is apple-picking. I feel wonderfully connected to the season as I harvest apples in aromatic orchards.

I have a choice when I partake in the picking. I can either climb high on the ladder or simply pick the low-hanging fruit. Fun as it may be to climb, it is often easiest to pick the apples on low-hanging branches. Yet how often do we do just this in our businesses? How often do we stop long enough to see the low-hanging fruit before us?

Below are seven steps for picking low-hanging fruit in a faith-based business:

  1. Commence the process with your clients. Past and current clients are rich sources of new business and referrals. In light of this, schedule time to regularly connect with past and current clients. When speaking with them, devote time and energy to discovering what they really need. This involves deep, intentional listening. “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.”(James 1:19 NIV) If you know you can fill their needs, present an offering to them with a special savings or limited-time bonus.
  2. Reward your referrers.  Ask for referrals actively and reward your referrers generously! Referrals allow us to reap fruit quickly in our businesses, yet this is an often overlooked practice. Initially we can feel “salesy” when asking for referrals. Yet, as in all things, practice makes perfect. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9 NIV) Practice asking for referrals consistently. Remember that in doing so you could potentially transform lives. The goal of our faith-based businesses is to bring God-centered transformation, so do not be ashamed to ask for business – and, specifically, for referrals. Be sure to reward your referrers; send a gift and a thank-you note. Referrers are treasures, so be sure to treat them as such!
  3. Take the stage…and speak! Speaking is a wonderful way to exhibit your expertise. When developing your speech, begin with the end result in mind. What offer are you going to present? Build your speech around this offer by giving a taste of the transformational services you provide. Employ story-telling in your speaking, as stories engage the audience and trigger emotions. Develop a story with complex characters, suspense, challenges and transformations. Create your engaging story and your compelling offer…and start looking for speaking venues that attract your ideal clients!
  4. Make an offer in a newsletter. Stay engaged with your contacts, clients and following with an opt-in newsletter. If you do not already offer a valuable gift on your web site, create one as soon possible; you can offer this valuable gift in exchange for a name and email address. In sending a regular newsletter, you will build relationships through strategic email campaigns.
  5. Invite people to work with you in all you do.  Share about your complimentary consultations, for example, on your blog posts, your email signature line, your outgoing voice message, your social media posts, your web site, and your business cards. Remember: do not feel “salesy” in so doing, as you are in the business of transforming lives! If you attract and transform even one client from this practice, your efforts are more than worthwhile.
  6. Write love letters. Yes, love letters. No, not romantic love letters, but hand-written letters in which you express your gratitude for the relationship. In your “love letters” you can offer an opportunity to do business or you can ask for a referral. In this day and age of electronic communication, a hand-written letter can be treasured. It is a powerful way to build connection and to generate business.
  7. Do a marketing marathon. Go through all your contacts in your email, phone, client folders and social media. Move systematically through these contacts and start connecting with each person. Ask each individual if there is anyone they know who needs your services; highlight your special limited-time promotion.

Bonus Tip: Ask God for His perfect guidance regarding your next step in harvesting low-hanging fruit. He is the Source of all wisdom and knowledge, and He is the perfect Guide for your every purposeful step.

I encourage you to start implementing these steps, as you will be able to harvest soon your low-hanging fruit. I realize some of these practices can feel uncomfortable, but “practice” these practices to become “perfect” in them. The more you are comfortable with harvesting low-hanging fruit, the more you will be comfortable with promoting your services overall. This will impact your business on every level…not to mention countless lives! After all, we enroll others not to serve ourselves but rather to serve them!

So embrace confidence, move out of your comfort zone and start harvesting low-hanging fruit from a space of love!

“Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” ~ 2 Corinthians 9:10-11 NIV

If you need help with this powerful process, I invite you to attract your ideal clients and powerfully boost your business over the next 40 days! There is no need to reinvent the wheel. I have organized my knowledge and experiences in business into an implementable 40-day series of actionable daily steps, instructional videos and powerful worksheets. Through October 15th this program will be offered at the incredible introductory price of $27. If you need a serious boost in business, I encourage you to take the next step by visiting  Purposeful Pathway Business Academy today!

Let’s pray. O True Vine, in You we grow and prosper. In You we enjoy life, indeed life abundant. You are the One who makes the seeds grow. We ask for Your blessing upon our businesses; we request Your favor as we harvest low-hanging fruit; we implore Your grace as we seek to glorify You. Lead us every moment of every day, every step of our purposeful pathway. It’s in Jesus’ Name that we pray. Amen.

Sweet is Your symphony,

The song You sing.

So for You I live,

In You I rejoice,

Happily I sing,

Lifting my voice.

Gratefully I travel

On pathways You pave,

Sharing with all

How You lovingly save.

Yea, rejoicing in Your radiance,

Singing in Your light,

Marveling Your mercy,
