Poetic Inspirations and Practical Applications for Blissful Living

Heart-Centered Biz Tip: Social Media

Heart-Centered Biz Tip Social Media

Social Media

Purposeful Pathway is a haven for heart-centered entrepreneurs. Part of my mission is equipping heart-centered businesses with information that is practical, actionable and Scriptural.

The topic of this “biz tip” is social media. My overall advice with social media is: use it; use it well; use it effectively; use it wisely; use it with limits; use it from the heart; use it for God.

Let’s explore these seven points:

  • Use it: social media provides a venue in which to reach millions of people worldwide…without ever leaving your home. Certainly face-to-face meetings are powerful and effective; but to avoid social media is to avoid vast numbers of people, some of whom will be hungry for your message and solutions.
  • Use it well: Think about why you are using social media. Create a mission statement for your social media activity. Sign onto Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, LinkedIn, etc., with a clearly defined statement of what you seek to achieve on all levels: spiritually, mentally, emotionally, relationally, financially and vocationally.
  • Use it effectively: Leverage your time. You can easily spend your entire day on social media. Be clear about the target market you serve; then seek them out to serve them. Find their groups. Find where they “hang out” online. Determine the times of day that they are most active. Post content that will resonate with their hearts and that will provide value to them. Share your compelling story.
  • Use it wisely: Wisdom comes from God. Be sure to seek God’s direction in all you do. I recommend praying for God’s wisdom and direction before signing onto any social media venue. “And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding.'” (Job 28:28)
  • Use it with limits: Limit your time. When you start to build a following, it is natural that you will spend more time on social media. As your following and your business grow, ensure that you limit your social media time without hindering your relationships. This involves finding a fine balance; striking this balance will take time, wisdom and work. Determine a realistic and beneficial time limit; set this time limit and stick to it.
  • Use it from the heart: You are using social media to grow your business, but your business has blossomed from your heart. Make sure you approach social media from your heart, from a place of love. Sow your seeds from love. Love people. Do not see them as simply potential clients or partners. See them as the beautiful individuals they are. When they are not acting beautifully, pray for them; love them all the more. Allow social media to be a place where you can shine with God’s love and light. “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:17)
  • Use it for God: The previous point leads seamlessly to this last and seventh point. Your heart-centered business exists to serve others and to glorify God. Use social media to glorify His Name and to bring other people closer to Him. Use social media as a way to bring the Gospel to a lost world. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:19-20

There is much to share on each of these seven points, and this list itself is not exhaustive. I delve deeply into the topic of social media with my clients in my Heart-Centered Business Coaching programs; but, in consistently applying these seven steps, you will find success in social media by God’s grace.

Thank you very much for joining me here in this haven, and I pray God’s blessings abound to you on your Purposeful Pathway!

Celebration of Creation

Celebration of Creation

“… Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.” ~ Isaiah 12:6

 Crisp blue sky,

Trees stretching tall,

Wind dancing freely,

Songbirds call,

Such is the beauty,

The grandeur You create;

Surrounded by Nature,

Your love I celebrate.

In the trees and flowers,

In rivers running free,

In the sun shining,

In the clapping tree,

I hear and see You,

Jesus, You are here;

In Nature and her beauty,

Your love shines clear.

Your loving hand

Colors the sky bright,

Your joyous smile

Gives the sun its light,

Your kiss of mercy

Clothes the fields with dew,

Your life-giving touch

Does all things renew.

So of You and for You

This song I do sing;

Your love, sweet Jesus,

Creates everything.

So as the trees sway,

As the sky shines blue,

As the birds sing joyfully,

I rejoice in You.

I join all things,

All things You create,

In Your love, Jesus,

We sing and celebrate.

Yes, with the blue sky,

With trees stretching tall,

I celebrate with Nature

The Creator of us all.

Your Kingdom Come

Your Kingdom Come Poem by Caroline Gavin of Purposeful Pathway Christian Life Coaching www.PurposefulPathway.com

Your Kingdom Come

“…your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven…” Matthew 6:10

Your Kingdom come, Lord,

Your perfect will be done,

Your Kingdom come,

O Almighty One.

In my heart, O Jesus,

Let Your Kingdom reign;

You are my King,

My life You do sustain.

In my actions,

Let Your Kingdom be;

A servant of Your Kingdom

Let others see in me.

In my words,

Let Your Kingdom shine;

May my words glorify You,

Your Kingdom Divine.

In my steps,

Let Your Kingdom lead;

I go where You take me,

I sow Your spiritual seed.

In my eyes,

Let Your Kingdom glow;

In the mirrors of my eyes

Let Your Kingdom show.

In all I am and will be,

In all I say and do,

Let Your Kingdom come,

Let me shine of You.

In all that is around me,

In every corner of the earth,

Let Your Kingdom come,

Let us know rebirth.

In every heart,

In every soul that does live,

Let Your Kingdom come,

To us Your Kingdom give.

Yes, this is my prayer,

Let Your Kingdom come now;

Serve You and glorify You,

This, Lord, I do vow.

In Your heart, O Jesus,

All things I do gain,

So let Your Kingdom come,

Let Your Kingdom reign.

Yes, You are my King,

Always You I will adore;

So let Your Kingdom come,

Let it reign forevermore.

I am honored and grateful to be a contributor to the Pearls of Promise Devotional book! A true treasure trove, this devotional is rich with inspiration! Lisa Burkhardt Worley is a woman of God who shines with His love…and who graciously shares His pearls of promise.

Pearls of Promise Devotional with contributor Caroline Gavin of Purposeful Pathway Business Coaching www.PurposefulPathway.com

From  the publisher:

“God makes a pearl out of every trial or struggle in our lives just as pearls are formed by irritations and distress inside an oyster shell.

The stories included are honest and designed to help women through real life experiences. The Pearls of Promise Devotionals is designed to encourage women in their faith journey, and it’s structured in a way that women can go directly to the “Pearl” they are yearning for. There they will discover how another individual dealt with the same issue and how God brought them through it. One day our faith may be lacking or another day, we may have a trust issue. We might struggle with forgiving another person in our lives. For all of these concerns, The POP Devotional will be their “go to” resource, a devotional encyclopedia in many ways!

The Pearls of Promise Devotional contains 120 “pearls of promise” from God written by 46 different authors from all over the United States. The contributors include Hugs Series author LeAnn Weiss, whose first book sold over a million copies, Christian fiction writer, Lisa Buffaloe, whose book, Nadia’s Hope, was #1 on Amazon.Com sales, motivational speaker and evangelist, Krish Dhanam, who worked side-by-side with the late Zig Ziglar, and former national television sports reporter, Lisa Burkhardt Worley, who is also an editor on the project.”

God’s Graces

God's Graces Poem by Caroline Gavin of Purposeful Pathway Business Coaching

God's Graces Poem by Caroline Gavin of Purposeful Pathway Christian Life Coaching www.PurposefulPathway.com

God’s Graces

“And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.” John 1:16

Thinking of You,

I feel my heart sing,

I embrace the goodness

Your grace does bring.

Within and outside,

Here and all around,

Surely Your sweet graces

To me do abound.

They pave my path,

Carving the way for me;

Yes, Your sweet graces

Lead to eternity.

They sing in the birds,

Dance in the flower,

Laugh in the children,

Kiss in the shower,

They fill me with joy,

Envelop me with love,

They sparkle in the stars

Lighting the sky above.

They light up my eyes,

Bringing joy to my song,

Your graces remind me

That with You I belong.

So on this grace-paved path

I will sing of Your love,

Keeping my eyes fixed

On true treasures above.

And, my Lord Jesus,

For all that You do give,

I give You all of me,

Yes, this very life I live.

I long to please You,

To perform only Your will,

For Your sweet graces

My every moment do fill.

Yes, within and outside,

Here and all around,

Your sweet graces, Jesus,

To me do abound.

So thinking of You,

I feel my heart sing,

I embrace the goodness

Your sweet grace does bring.

Heart-Centered Biz Tip Target Market

Victorious Warriors

Before chocolate bunnies, Easter egg hunts and multi-colored jelly beans, in finely manicured baskets, Jesus Christ fought the ultimate battle, which in turn offers us victory over death. His victory does not deter Satan and his attempts to pick us off one by one. For this reason, we must be prepared and claim our status as victorious warriors for the Lord. There is one particular exercise which personifies this attitude; the warrior exercise. This exercise increases the heart rate and challenges every muscle in the body while empowering the spirit. This exercise is challenging and in order to do it correctly, without injury, you must maintain proper alignment, stay focused and believe. Regular attendees use one heavy weight but someone new can still participate by modifying the exercise with a light weight. Everyone in the class can experience the Romans 8:37 verse which states “We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

When I look out into the packed room and see women of all ages and levels of fitness preparing to pick up their heavy weights, I sense I am leading an army for Christ. Humbly, but with righteous respect, I announce that God has placed them in this boot camp to help them reach new levels of strength, both physically and spiritually. I believe that God is raising an army of believers willing to step out in faith and do His will on earth. This army is willing to pray whenever or where ever needed, lay hands on the sick and faithfully expecting the unexpected to happen. These women will break free from the bondage the enemy has enslaved them with and then they will lead others out of captivity.

I announce to my platoon that we are victorious warriors for Jesus Christ and we must join together on the battle field to overcome the daily darts being thrown our way. I remind them that they have been trained to recognize the enemies’ strategy of keeping them from knowing all they can be in Christ. Finally, I command them to take up the sword of the spirit, the heavy weight, and the Word of God, and be ready to fight. When the attack of the enemy comes (and it will come), we are to use the Word as our weapon. Jesus our great General has shown us how to war in spirit and in truth.

After forty days of fasting in the wilderness, Satan tried to catch Jesus in a weak moment by offering to turn stone to bread. Jesus spoke directly to him and said, “It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Then the devil took Him to the holy city and had Him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the son of God”, he said, “Throw yourself down.” For it is written: “He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” Jesus answered him, “It is also written: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.” Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All of this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.” Then the devil left Him, and the angels came and attended Him.

When we wield the Word, like Jesus did, Satan has no control over us. When we swing the sword of the spirit, the heavy weight, we carve up complacency and cut the bindings of Satan. When we march onto the battle field knowing Jesus’ blood has already made us victorious, we acquire the power and authority necessary to ward off the enemy. When we pray and stick to the Word of God in battle, and not our personal opinions, we are victorious. Knowing and hearing this on the battle field really gets my blood pumping for the next warrior exercise!

Ephesians 6:14-17 describes the fashion fit for battle. “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God.”

I command the warriors to take their positions and stand firm as they engage their core with the belt of truth around their waist. Where there is truth, nothing can be hidden, so we examine ourselves to make sure there is nothing hidden in secret to be used against us. We know secret sins are Satan’s fertile breeding ground and with this knowledge, we must confess our sins and remove any opportunity for mistakes on the battle field. We each take the sword of the spirit, our heavy weight, in our left hand and lower ourselves down in the squat position. With force and a heavy inhale we swing our weight back as far as the arm will allow us to maintain our position. Ready for battle we stand up, exhale forcefully, and swing the sword forward. Strong and steady I now command them to let go of the sword, (weight), and launch it in front of them. Being quickened in our spirit we grab the sword of the spirit with our right hand and lower ourselves back down into a squat while continuing this warring in the spirit for two minutes.

Too soon the hour of training is over and we must each go our separate ways. But we leave empowered, as victorious warriors, armed with the sword of the spirit and the Word of God.

Heart-Centered Biz Tip: Target Market

Target Market - Heart-Centered Biz Tip

Heart-Centered Biz Tip Target Market

Target Market

Purposeful Pathway is a haven for heart-centered entrepreneurs. Part of my mission as a Heart-Centered Business Coach is equipping heart-centered entrepreneurs with information that is practical, actionable and Scriptural.

Heart-centered business owners often find challenges in determining a target market. It is no wonder! It is on our hearts to serve everyone.

As a result, questions that arise include: What is my niche? How do I find it? Is my niche big enough? Small enough? Am I too narrow in my focus? Am I blocking potential clients with my narrow focus?

You likely can serve the world (or much of it) with your wonderful, God-given gifts; that being said, you cannot market the world. For this reason, targeting a group of people is essential. Take heart: you will not block potential clients by narrowing your focus. On the contrary, you will attract your ideal clients and also position yourself as a specialist.

To be the most effective, your marketing and your message should resonate strongly with the group you wish to serve. Both should speak specifically to their pain and also point to a powerful promise. This level of heart-string resonance cannot happen if a message is too broad. But, in speaking specifically to a group, your message will reach deep into their hearts; when they hear or read your message, they will respond and nod internally, “yes, that’s me…”

Once you have narrowed your niche, you can focus on spending time with them. You can go where they “hang out,” whether online or offline. You can position yourself as an expert by providing excellent, actionable content. You can serve them and share with them your heart.

Your Niche Assignment

Journal about your niche, using the following questions as a launch pad:

  • What population do I love serving? Why?
  • How old are they?
  • What do they do for a living?
  • Are they single? Married?
  • Business owners? Salespeople? Artists?
  • Teenagers? Children? Mothers? Fathers? Elderly?
  • How do they spend their leisure time?
  • On what do they spend their money?
  • What is important to them?
  • What is their pain point? What keeps them up at night?
  • How can I speak to this pain and also provide a solution?

Journal about the intersection of your talents, your passion and the needs of others. Who would pay for your solution, a solution that is the fruit of your talents and passion? Of these people, with whom do you most enjoy working?

As always, God will lead us to the answers we need for our heart-centered businesses. Be sure to lift this matter in prayer and to seek godly counsel. “Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” (Proverbs 11:14)

Remember: our businesses are not about us. Our heart-centered businesses exist to serve God and others. When you sow your activities from a space of love and service, God will surely bless both your heart and your heart-centered business.

Defining your target market is crucial, so I encourage you to pour your heart into this assignment.

And I look forward to seeing you here again on this Purposeful Pathway.
