Poetic Inspirations and Practical Applications for Blissful Living

Guest Post: He Ain’t Heavy

He Ain’t Heavy

One of the most important things everyone needs in life is a support system that is there for them when they are having issues. A support system can help us through some of life’s trying moments and can be anything from a family member, a friend or even a neighbor. We just need/want someone that will be there for us in our time of need, someone that will listen to our concerns and give us the words we need to hear, not the words we want to hear. Of course the best support system is a close relationship with God.

But what about being a support system for others? Do you offer that support to those close to you? Can you see when someone is in need and offer to support them? We should always be on the lookout for the opportunity to be a support to others, especially those that are close to us.

Being a support system for others may require different things for each individual. More often than not they are just looking for someone to talk to, someone that will listen emphatically and offer suggestions to help them through their problem or issue.

Of all the assets we have, our time is the most valuable of all. By giving someone else our time we have given them something more precious than money. Because we have only so much time in this life, how we spend it is precious. That is why we need to be aware and cautious of who and how many people we offer our support to. There is just not enough time to help everyone.

In any case the feeling you will get when helping others, being a part of someone’s support system is a very rewarding opportunity and one you will always remember. There are always opportunities to help others, to become a part of someone’s support system. In addition we never know when we may need a support system ourselves. So the next time such an opportunity arises don’t be afraid to say sure “He Ain’t Heavy”.

Guest Post: Finding Peace in Total Wellness

Finding Peace in Total Wellness

Guest Post by Heart and Soul Health Coach Mike Fenton

Total Wellness – when mind, body and spirit all come together in good health. Do we really need all three components to have and sustain Total Wellness? The answer is yes! Wellness of the mind, body and spirit are all essential parts of life and fostering each of them should be a part of our daily regimen.

Too many people think that fitness is wellness, it is not. Fitness means we are in good physical condition, it says nothing about what our mental or spiritual state is. If we desire to be in a state of wellness we must consider all three; mind, body and spirit.

The most important part of the three is having spiritual wellness. Someone that is in spiritual wellness is experiencing the peacefulness that comes from putting their faith in someone who will always be by their side, our Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 4:7 reminds us; “peace. His peace is never ending to those that seek Him.

Through the peacefulness we find in Him we can minimize and in some cases eliminate unhealthy mindsets such as stress and anxiety. The American Institute of Stress says “It has been estimated that 75 – 90 percent of all visits to primary care physicians are for stress related problems”. So when we eliminate the stress and anxiety from our life it contributes to wellness of both, the mind and the body. We accomplish all this by coming into spiritual wellness, and through that, by putting all our worries and concerns in the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ.

“You are good and do good; Teach me Your statutes.” (Psalm 119:68)

Melodies of birds

Play around me,

Gentle breezes

Dance through the tree,

Sunshine embraces,

Blue skies stretch above,

Green fields invite

With refreshing love,

Joyful music plays

Deep in my heart…

To count God’s blessings,

Where can I start?

For His goodness

Is all around,

His sweet mercies

Surely abound,

His tender touch

Is in everything,

His happy voice

Makes the birds sing,

His endless grace

Kisses each flower,

His majesty radiates

In mountains that tower.

Yes, God’s goodness

Is here and everywhere,

Inspiring every bliss,

Drying every tear.

From our Father

All goodness starts,

Refreshing our spirits,

Uplifting our hearts,

Reminding us of heaven,

Of treasures above,

Filling our hearts with joy,

With limitless love…

Yes, as birds sing

Joyfully in the tree,

Let us sing of God’s goodness

Now and eternally!

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27)

Lord, help me to hear You,

When dim is the way,

Help to me to discern

The words that You say,

Enrich me with wisdom,

Show me what to do,

Guide me in ways

To always honor You,

Teach me Your statutes,

Align me with Your will,

Make me to long

All the more for You still.

Yes, Lord, help me

Your voice to hear,

Ring Your wisdom

In my heart ever clear,

Let the beauty of Your way

Grace all that I see,

Let my eyes be fixed

On sweet eternity,

Let my soul rejoice

In being forever Yours,

Let my spirit bask

In Your love that pours.

So much I love You,

Let my love be greater still,

As I delight in Your way,

As I rejoice in Your will,

Lord, I smile to live

My every day for You,

I offer all I am,

All I say, all I do…

Yes, help to me to discern

The words You say…

Because, Jesus, I live for You

Today and every day!

Biz Tip: Something Old, Something New

Purposeful Pathway is the haven for faith-based entrepreneurs. Part of my mission is equipping faith-based businesses with information that is practical, actionable and Scriptural.

The theme of this post is embracing something old and something new to boost business!

Traditional rhymes are both amusing and fascinating. We can learn much about culture and history by tracing the roots of common expressions. The familiar rhyme “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, a sixpence in your shoe” is one that comes to mind and brings a smile. Charming as this Old English rhyme may be in the context of a wedding, it is also a wonderful reminder for good business practices.

How so? Let’s explore five ways:

1. Something Old. Beneficial it is to explore “old” tried and true habits that are effective in our businesses. Evaluate with the following questions: What are your habits, routines, practices and systems in business? What can you learn from the results of these? Which of these habits consistently yield fruit? Which do not? Having explored these questions, determine how to leverage more powerfully the specific “old” habits that are the most fruitful.

2. Something New. It is wise to embrace the old tried and true; it is wise, too, to embrace something new. Explore: What can you do to shake things up? What new practice can add value to your business? What new mindset can yield powerful results? Adding something new can shift our businesses and our lives in a powerful way, often far beyond expectations. The added “newness” can extend outside of business. For example, eating new foods, driving new routes, or exploring new trails can boost creativity and heighten inspiration.

3. Something Borrowed. Yes, there is beauty to things that are borrowed too. Oftentimes we start from scratch without learning from the mistakes and successes from others. Ask yourself: Who has achieved success in your field of business? What can you learn from him/her? What specific habit, system or procedure in his/her business can add value to your business? “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” (Proverbs 13:20)

4. Something Blue. Beautiful it is, too, to add something blue. The Old English “blue” referred to faithfulness and love. Ponder: What can you do to express more radiantly your faith in God and your love for others? Whom can you serve more wholeheartedly? How can you give more frequently? “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (Luke 6:38)

5. Sixpence in Your Shoe. Rather than insert a sixpence in your shoe for prosperity, choose to step forward in the Holy Spirit on purpose. Prayerfully consider: How can you heed more clearly God’s voice and direction? How can you deepen your relationship with Christ? What can you do to act out more powerfully your faith in the business arena? Living purposefully for Jesus is the pathway to true prosperity and timeless joy.

So, without the need for wedding bells, I encourage you to embrace something old and something new! You will experience richer fruit, deeper joy and purposeful fun in your business…and in your life!

“But unto you that fear My name shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings; and ye shall go forth and grow up as calves from the stall.” (Malachi 4:2)

My love for you, child,

Do you now see?

It is dancing for you

In leaves of the tree,

It is smiling for you

In rays of the sun,

It is delighting with you

In moments of fun,

It is calling to you

In the bird’s song,

It is embracing you

In fields stretching long…

Yes, my love

Is all around you,

Kissing the moments

Through all that you do,

Touching your soul,

Inspiring your mind,

Moving your heart

To be loving and kind.

So, little one,

Take My gentle hand,

Embrace all I give,

All I have planned,

For surely I give

Only what is love,

I share with you

Treasures from above.

My love for you

Is deep and long,

Sweeter than the sweetest

Songbird’s song,

Happier than happiest

Moments of fun,

Brighter than brightest

Rays of the sun…

Yes, My child,

My love do you see?

It beats for you

For all eternity!
