Make My Spirit Fly

 

“…but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

 

When my heart is heavy,

When tears brim in my eye,

When I long like a bird

To escape and to fly,

 

When the way is dim,

When I am weak and weary,

When all about seems

So dark and dreary,

 

I see a glimmer

Of Your love-filled light,

Like the dawn of day

You shine through my night…

 

And my heart cannot help

But feel a surge of peace,

As into Your hands

All I am I release.

 

Every worry, every woe,

Every trial, every tear,

Every pain, every problem,

Every fight, every fear –

 

All I release

To You, Jesus, my King,

And I embrace the goodness

Your loving hands bring.

 

You pave my path

With bright light You shine,

You kiss away tears

With Your love divine,

 

You instill a song

Ever beautiful, ever new;

Yes, lovely is all You are,

All You say, all You do.

 

You make strong my bones

Once weak and weary,

You make bright the valleys

Once dark and dreary.

 

Yes, You restore the sparkle,

The pure joy in my eye…

Jesus, You are my light,

You make my spirit fly!
