Pain Points and Power Points

Purposeful Pathway is a haven for faith-based entrepreneurs. It is a journey in which faith and business gracefully intertwine. It is a pathway paved with purpose, peace and passion. The posts provide insights for faith-based business and also inspiration for the spiritual journey. My hope is that, in reading, your businesses will grow and your lives will be enriched. My prayer is that these messages will allow God’s peace, love and joy to pave your purposeful pathways.

Part of my mission is equipping faith-based businesses with information that is practical, actionable and Scriptural. The theme of this post is pain points and power points.

I am passionate about spreading joy through the Gospel message. But you may wonder why I am so passionate about this. Although there is much into which I can delve regarding that question, I will provide a relatively short answer in this post. I went through some very painful experiences as a child, and I therefore grew up with self-loathing. This sense of worthlessness expressed itself in severe depression and also a severe eating disorder, specifically anorexia nervosa. The chief psychiatrist in a prestigious hospital said I was the most depressed child he had ever met; he had been working in the field for some time and had met with many a child, so this was quite the distinction. I spent a good number of my teen years and early adult years in the 50 to 60 pound range. Yes, I was literally 50 pounds and, quite frankly, on the verge of death. I hated myself so much on a subconscious level, and this was the outward expression. The only balm to the excruciating pain of life was being thin – no, the thinnest. To take that balm away would be to leave me with pain that felt worse than death. Although I was very functional in work and in school, the depression continued until I became born again in the Spirit of God.

This is, of course, a greatly abbreviated version of my pathway. Yet the power of the point remains: God is One of transformation. Now, by God’s grace, I hear frequently from others that I am the most joyful person they know. I am also very healthy and on fire for life. I nurture and nourish my body, the temple of the Holy Spirit. A physician once told me that I could never have children due to the damage of the anorexia; but, by God’s mercy, I have experienced two healthy pregnancies and have given birth to two beautiful children. Due to the anorexia, I once suffered from osteopenia, anemia, generalized anxiety disorder, seizures and a host of other illnesses. God has healed every single ailment. My life is a miracle; even more miraculous is the joyful, healthful and purposeful quality of my life. In light of this, sharing joy and wholeness in Christ is extremely important to me. I know how painful it is to have no joy and no meaning and no purpose; if God can transform me, he can transform anyone!

God has taken my pain point and transformed it into a power point for His glory.

Another pain point for me had been attracting clients and having a consistent flow of income while doing the work to which God called me. God has also shifted this pain point to a power point, and so I now help other Christian entrepreneurs succeed in sharing their gifts. I help them to attract ideal clients, powerfully package services and also systematize their efforts so they can enjoy fun, fruitful and profitable businesses. I am able to share God’s Word not only through my own ministry efforts but also through a powerful ripple effect. When I help my Christ-centered clients succeed in their businesses, I help them to use their unique gifts to reach countless lives with God’s Message. (If you are interested in a free program for attracting clients, I invite you to join the newly-released 21-Day Attract Clients NOW Challenge.) Helping Christian entrepreneurs involves a beautiful intersection of my experiences, my skills and my passions. My purposeful pathway, therefore, is working with others to pave their own purposeful pathways.

There are a couple points of my sharing these pain and power points with you. The first is that you may appreciate more deeply why I do what I do. The second is that you may appreciate that you have pain points and power points too! The most powerful things we can share in our businesses – and indeed our lives – often revolve around our former pain points. The Bible verse 2 Corinthians 12:10 states: “That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Let us embrace our crosses, for God converts them to crowns. Let us sow our tears, for we will reap with songs of joy.

I encourage you to apply the following steps to leverage your pain points and power points for God’s glory:

  1. Compose a list of two columns. On the left side list your pain points; on the right side list your corresponding power points.
  2. If you have not arrived to a place of power with a certain pain point, pray about this; God is very likely leading you to victory in this area. The very areas in which we struggle are often the very areas that bring success and fulfillment and fruit.
  3. Connect with your story. I shared some of my story with you, and I am confident that you now have a deeper appreciation for what I do and why I do it. I encourage you to do the same: bring more of YOU – the trials, the challenges, the victories, the successes – into your business. People want to connect with people not just processes. Yes, they are looking for results. But, with the vast array of choices to obtain those results, it is powerful to distinguish yourself as not only a result-giver but also a three-dimensional person. Exposing your vulnerabilities allows others to see how you relate to their pain; it also reveals the power of the transformation you have experienced. Review your pain and power point list and then write a compelling story to share consistently in your business.

These exercises will enrich your business and your life; they will also bless those whom you touch while bringing glory to God.

Thank you for allowing me to share some of my story with you; I look forward to learning how your pain points and power points inspire and transform others!

Healthy Soul is Crucial

A Healthy Soul is Crucial in Our Journey to “Total Wellness”

Enjoy this guest post by my dear friend Mike Fenton of  Heart & Soul Health Coaching:

A healthy soul is the third part in the trilogy of “Total Wellness”. Wikipedia defines soul as: The soul, in many mythological, religious, philosophical, and psychological traditions, is the incorporeal and, in many conceptions, immortal essence of a person, living thing, or object.

Soul is also a synonym for spirit, mind, psyche or self and that is how we should relate to it when thinking about our own “Total Wellness”. In Proverbs 20:27 (NIV) we are reminded that “The human spirit is the lamp of the Lord that sheds light on one’s inmost being”.

Most people that have their souls in a state of wellness live a more tranquil life because they have more inner wisdom, inner peace and knowledge. Most work to change the consciousness of humanity and to enlighten others in order to create love, peace, and harmony for humanity.

The power of the soul can teach us soul healing, soul prevention of sickness, soul rejuvenation, soul transformation of every aspect of life (including relationships and finances), and soul enlightenment. It offers us a practical means to empower us to apply all of these teachings. We are asked in Proverbs 18:14 (NIV) “The human spirit can endure in sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear?”

When our soul is in a state of wellness we have the power to do or be all we desire. You are, and will be, as you believe yourself to be.

You are in control, your will supreme; self-empowerment is your will in action. Believe in your worthiness to be as one with the Creator for that is divine truth, for we are all of and from the One.

Underneath the flesh overcoat with will and desire to know our self  we can open the door to our soul, our inner awareness, our power to be all that we are, and we can find our soul purpose.

The words of The Bible can inspire us to explore our life purpose and leave us with a feeling of inner excitement inspiring us to want to know more.

Inspiration in reality is a realization of a truth already known, it is this inner awareness that inspires us to take hold, acknowledge it, and therefore desire to make it real in our own way.

With “Total Wellness” (when mind, body and soul all come together as one in good health) we feel a new sense of empowerment. We are happy with who we are, where we are, where we want to go, and what we want to do.

Because when we believe in ourselves we take back control.

Guest Post: It’s All About Choices

I am grateful to have 3D Vitality Health Coach Ann Musico share a guest post!

It’s All About Choices by Ann Musico:

Change is a process. You cannot make sweeping changes to your lifestyle all at once and

expect to be successful. You create overload and that’s what leads to thinking, “This is just

too hard; I can’t do it so I might as well just forget it!”  Instead, I suggest you look at it as a series of choices you make gradually.

For instance, first you increase how much water you drink. If your requirement based on your present weight is 100 ounces, don’t just measure out the 100 ounces and start chugging! No, each day increase the amount you already drink by 8 or 16 ounces until you get to the correct amount for you. This is what I call “taking baby steps.”

You can make a better choice in every situation. You can choose the baked or broiled fish

instead of the deep fried, batter encrusted version. You can ask for salad dressing on the

side and choose to make it olive oil and vinegar instead of blue cheese. You can choose to

have salad AND a vegetable instead of salad and french fries. You can choose to use

the stairs instead of the elevator.

Every choice creates a result. You have control over that result. The result can be greater

energy and vitality, improved health and appearance or fatigue, excess weight and health

problems. You may have little or no control over many aspects of life—but your choices and

attitude are the two things you have total control over. And those two things drive the rest of

your life!   Becoming aware of choices you are making and carefully determining

how you can make the best choice in each situation is a critical first step to success in health and in life.

We all have certain specific genetic predispositions. For example, you may have a genetic

predisposition toward diabetes, obesity, heart problems or cancer. I am not denying that

your family history may predispose you to certain diseases. All of my grandparents except

for one, most of my aunts and uncles and my mother ALL died from cancer. Does it seem to

run in my family? Gallop may be more like it. I acknowledge the history, but I do not believe

it destines me or my children to go down the same path.

I ask you to consider a different question—what really runs in your family, genes or habits? Research

confirms that although heredity and familial disposition toward certain conditions have an

effect on physical health, it only accounts for approximately 20%—lifestyle and nutrition account

for close to 80%! This tells me that while we can acknowledge our family’s health history

and be aware of it, we need not repeat it. Rather than just continue to perpetuate the

habits we may have grown up with, we have the power to choose to change them and improve

the outcome. (There’s that word “choose” again!)

When you choose to believe a problem is genetic or you just inherited it—you are saying it

cannot be changed, you are doomed to be this way and there’s NOTHING you can do about

it! You make yourself a victim and relinquish responsibility for your thoughts, beliefs and

actions. It’s been scientifically proven that your perception of a situation or condition (how

you see it) matters more than the condition itself. What you think and believe is so powerful—

it can change your DNA!

While changing lifelong habits may not be easy, remember, your choices not only affect you,

but future generations as well. We need not feel we’re doomed to suffer from the same

problems and diseases as our parents and grandparents. Deuteronomy 30:19 encourages

us to choose life, for ourselves and for our children. We can choose to do things differently.

Our parents did the best they knew to do. Since we know better, we must make the choice

to do better.

We must also embrace the truth that as Christians we now have a different, better Bloodline,

one in which there is no disease! By doing these things we can change our old perceptions

and create a new “history,” passing down vibrant health, wholeness and faith for generations

to come.

Are you making the best choices you can?

Heaven’s Gate

Heaven’s Gate

“There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.” Revelation 22:8

If you only knew

The treasures that await

For you, My precious child,

Behind Heaven’s gate.

If you could imagine

The diamonds and the gems,

The hills and mountains,

The roses and blossoms,

The waterfalls and streams,

The eternal Sunlight,

The glory of the days,

The absence of night,

The songs of birds,

The lamb’s dance with the lion,

The peace, the joy, the love

Of Eternal Zion.

If you only knew,

My child, you would not fear,

For you would remember

All your treasure is there.

So I ask you for a moment

To come be with Me,

Close your eyes right now,

Envision eternity.

For there in Heaven

Is your beautiful treasure,

Sweeter than your dreams,

Rich beyond measure.

Jewels of every color,

Water running crystal clear,

Fellowship and praise

With your siblings dear,

And also My presence,

For Heaven is where I AM,

I am the Alpha and Omega,

The Lion and The Lamb.

Smile in this vision,

Rejoice forever to know

That Heaven is yours

Because Me you follow.

My child, imagine

The diamonds and the gems,

The hills and mountains,

The roses and blossoms,

And keep your eyes fixed

On treasures that await

For you, My precious child,

Behind Heaven’s gate.

[Guest Post] What’s for Dinner?

What’s for Dinner?

Guest post by Mike Fenton of Heart and Soul Heath Coaching

“Happiness is more than good health and a bad memory.”

– Mike Fenton, Heart & Soul Health Coach

We spend a lot of time trying to eat the right foods because; too much of this raises my cholesterol or too much of that gives me high blood pressure. Those are all good things to keep in mind when feeding our “physical” bodies especially because when watching what we eat can keep us OFF the prescription medications.

However we must also think about our need to provide food for our soul! Food for the soul comes in many forms as it is something we do that makes us feel good inside or perhaps enlightened after doing it. It may come in the form of reading a good book that has a positive or inspiring message. The Bible is one of those books which provide great optimism for the future.  For example, 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV) gives great focus in (18) “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal”.

A warm or inspiring conversation with a friend or loved one can feed our soul. Or how about the great feeling we get after doing something that is for the benefit of someone else? Giving to a favorite charity or doing volunteer work? All are great food for the soul and things that make us feel better about ourselves while at the same time helping others.

However it is we like to provide food for our soul we must always understand the importance of it. By feeding the soul through reading scripture we can find both strength and rest through inner peace. We find strength in Isaiah 40:29 (NIV) which says (29) “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak” and we can find peace in Matthew 11:29 (NIV) which says to (29) “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls”.

So the next time you’re wondering “what’s for dinner” take a moment to think about what am I going to feed my soul?

May Reflection: Romans 8:10 (NLT) (10) “And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God”.  Romans 8:11 (NLT) (11) “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you”.

Sing of Jesus

Sing of Jesus

“Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!” Psalm 95:2

With lyrics of love,

With symphony sweet,

Filling my heart,

Moving my feet,

With songs of joy,

With psalms of adoration,

Inspiring praise,

Creating celebration,

With hymns of Heaven,

With angelic chorus,

Reminding me of all

You do for us,

I sing to You

With all of my being;

You are all I am knowing,

Breathing and seeing.

Your musical notes

Grace everything I see,

Your kiss of Heaven

Gives a taste of eternity.

You are my song,

You are my pure delight,

You are the Sun

Overcoming the night.

Jesus, sweet Jesus,

Your Name is symphony;

I thank You for being

Everything to me.

You are my Song,

My Psalm of adoration,

The Source of my praise

And sweet celebration,

So with lyrics of love,

With symphony sweet,

I sing of my Jesus

To all whom I meet.
