Biz Tip: Reap the Rewards of Research

Purposeful Pathway Biz Tip: Reap the Rewards of Research

Purposeful Pathway is a haven for faith-based entrepreneurs. Part of my mission as a Christian Business Coach is equipping heart-centered businesses with information that is practical, actionable and Scriptural.

The topic of this biz tip is reaping the rewards of research.

 Once you have created crystal clear goals, your next step is to undertake your goals with understanding. This step involves performing the research to determine the strategies, techniques, skills, activities, processes and relationships that will allow you to reach your goals. Clarifying your goals and believing in God’s power to allow you to achieve your goals are both pivotal parts of the purposeful pathway. Yet targeted action must compliment the clarity.

Notice: this step is not about any action but rather targeted action. This step involves action that is laser-focused on your God-centered goals. Research thoroughly, therefore, how to achieve your goals such that your actions will be fully aligned with goal fulfillment.

As an example, a writer seeks to sell books. Although she writes very well, she will not get very far at all without researching the publishing and marketing process. In like manner, therefore, review your written goals and thoroughly research the skills you will need, the people you will need and the processes you will need to reach them.

This step in and of itself allows you to achieve more, as understanding your undertaking streamlines your activities to those specific to reaching your goals; this in turn yields a deeper joy, as the goals once in your mind and now on paper grow more and more feasible, more and more tangible, more and more real.

Scripture reminds us to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)  Ultimately, as you trust fully in Him, God Himself will lead you and endow you with divine understanding. Devote your goals, your every step, to His glory. Doing so will allow you to bear fragrant fruit and experience divine joy.

Purposeful Pathway Biz Assignment:

For each of the areas of life – spiritual, emotional, mental, vocational, financial, physical and relational – journal about the following:

  1. What processes do I need to reach goals in this area of life?
  2. With whom do I need to connect to reach goals in this area of life?
  3. What skills must I learn to reach goals in this area of life?
  4. What processes must I put in place to reach goals in this area of life?
  5. What tools do I need to reach goals in this area of life?
  6. What systems must I create to reach goals in this area of life?

A Mother’s Love Letter

Mother's Love Poem by Caroline Gavin Purposeful Pathway Christian Life CoachingImage courtesy www.freedigitalphotos.net

Poem: Mother’s Love

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.” ~ Psalm 127:3

Precious you are to me,

A gift from God above,

Child, you are my treasure,

One I will always love.

The moment you were born

Was love at first sight,

Glimmering from your eyes

Was warm gentle light.

You knew me instantly,

And surely I knew you;

Connected we are forever

No matter what you do.

So hold my hand, child,

Stay ever close to me,

Trust that your mother

Loves you eternally.

Should the rain fall,

I will shelter you in my arms,

Praying that my embrace

Comforts and warms.

Should you hurt yourself

Amidst your carefree play,

Know you can run to me

Any moment, any day.

Yet remember there is One

Who loves you more than I do;

Stay close to Jesus,

For so much He loves you.

When I cannot be there,

When the distance is great,

Your connection with Jesus

Nothing can separate.

You are never alone,

He is always by your side;

He will carry you, my child,

And tenderly guide.

He loved you before creation,

Before the first day and night,

So bask always in His love,

In His warm gentle light.

Yes, precious you are to me,

So keep your eyes fixed above;

Child, you are my treasure,

One I will always love.

Harvesting from Good Habits

Heart-Centered Biz Tip: Harvesting from Good Habits

Heart-Centered Biz Tip Harvesting from Good Habits by Caroline Gavin of Purposeful Pathway Coaching

Image courtesy www.freedigitalphotos.net

Purposeful Pathway is a haven for heart-centered entrepreneurs. Part of my mission as a Christian Business Coach is equipping heart-centered businesses with information that is practical, actionable and Scriptural.

The topic of this biz tip is harvesting good fruit from good habits.

We are creatures of habit; God has wired this way, as habits are meant to be helpful. Our habits allow us to think far less about activities or sequences of activities; they thereby help us perform more efficiently.

Habits streamline processes that would otherwise take much more time, thought and energy. Yet, when our habits are not aligned with our goals, these otherwise helpful allies actually sabotage us.

By God’s grace, you can joyfully create habits that support your purpose; you can create habits that help you to act seamlessly upon those things which lead you to your goals. Practice daily the activities that will propel you to your goals and also weed out the habits do not support you. New habits do not take root overnight. The creation of new habits comes in the persistence of purposeful practice.

For example, you wish to write a book but seem to find no time for peaceful writing. You realize that getting up an hour earlier each day would allow you to enjoy that sacred space to write. Getting up an hour earlier each and every day to write, therefore, is a habit you must create. Doing so will initially disrupt your schedule; you may find yourself still feeling the need to stay up late at night as there is always one more thing to do (but, of course, staying up later makes it harder to get up in the morning). Expect this process of uprooting old habits and planting new habits to be uncomfortable and pray for the grace to grow through the discomfort.

Be excited in the fact that you are uncomfortable, as this discomfort is a great sign. It indicates you are growing and changing for the better.

Learn to be comfortable with – and to indeed embrace – discomfort. If achieving goals was an easy and comfortable process, everybody would achieve all their goals all the time. We ourselves must grow when our goals do. We become different when our targets do. Uncomfortable as this growth may be, it is highly beneficial.

Think about a time in which you were stretched and in which you grew favorably. Remember this time and write the details; use this memory to propel you during this time of purposeful practice.

It is the Holy Spirit who allows true transformation. Romans 12:2 reminds us to “not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Knowing your goals are God-centered, pray for the power of the Spirit to transform you and your habits from the inside out.

This practice yields higher achievement, as goal-supporting habits allow goals to be attained more quickly and easily; additionally, the pace and the ease in which you begin to reach your goals, the momentum gained and the God-honoring transformation together spring forth a divine joy.

Beautiful Blessings

Beautiful Blessings Poem by Caroline Gavin Purposeful Pathway Christian Life CoachingImage courtesy www.freedigitalphotos.net

Beautiful Blessings

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” ~ Ephesians 1:3

Beautiful blessings

All around me,

Beautiful blessings

For my eyes to see.

Beautiful blessings

In the flowers and trees,

Beautiful blessings

In the summer breeze.

Beautiful blessings

In rolling green hills,

Beautiful blessings

In mountains and rills.

Yes, beautiful blessings,

Here and all around;

Beautiful blessings

To us abound.

So thank you, O Lord,

For blessings You give,

Thank You, O Lord,

For this life to live.

Thank You, O Lord,

For Your Precious Son,

The most Beautiful Blessing

Is the Anointed One.

In the depths of His heart,

In the way He does pave,

In the graces He sheds,

Our souls He does save.

Yes, beautiful blessings

Jesus does share,

Beautiful blessings,

Sweet beyond compare.

So let my life

A beautiful blessing be;

Let all see You

When they see me.

Love and light

May I radiantly shine,

As I walk on His way,

His pathway divine.

And with rolling hills,

With flowers and trees,

With mountains and rills,

With the summer breeze,

I will sing of You,

Of all You mean to me;

You are my Beautiful Blessing

Now and eternally.

I Offer All

Hosanna Palm Sunday Poem by Purposeful Pathway Christian Life CoachingImage courtesy www.freedigitalphotos.net

I Offer All to You

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” ~ Romans 12:1-2

Every fiber of my being,

Every part of me,

Every thought I conjure,

Every sight I see,

Every step I take,

Every place I go,

Everything I desire,

Everything I know,

Every song I sing,

Every treasure I savor,

Every victory and trial,

Every blessing and favor,

All these I sacrifice,

All these I offer to You,

Yes, to give all I am

Is what I desire to do.

How can I do less

When all to me You give?

How can I do less

Than for You to live?

So every tear I shed,

Every smile I make,

Every laugh I release,

Every step I take,

Everything I am,

Everything I will be,

Everything I desire,

I offer all to Thee.

Without You I am nothing,

With You I have everything,

So for You, my Jesus,

This life song I sing.

I need only to glimpse

At Your Cross on Calvary

To remember how much

You mean to me.

So every step I take,

Every place I go,

Everything I desire,

Everything I know,

Every fiber of my being,

Every part of me,

I offer all to You, Jesus,

My Reason to be.

Holy Week Poem: Calvary

Hosanna Palm Sunday Poem by Purposeful Pathway Christian Life CoachingImage courtesy www.freechristimages.net

Holy Week Poem: Calvary

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” ~ 1 Peter 2:24

The skies are gray,

The thunder roars,

From the crying heavens

The rain downpours,

For here on Calvary,

There on the tree,

You, O Lamb of God,

Bleed now for me.

My heart quavers

To behold this bitter sight,

On this Good Friday

Dark as the night.

A crown of thorns

Pierces Your head,

From every inch of flesh

Your blood is shed.

I shudder to realize

This is all for my sin;

In Your blood, my Savior,

New life does begin.

With eyes of compassion,

Shining through the pain,

You whisper, “Forgive them,”

Time and time again.

How can it be

That You pray for me too?

How can it be, my Jesus?

How can it be true?

Were I the only one

Upon this very earth,

You would die for me

That I would know rebirth.

So before Your Cross,

I kneel in adoration;

Tears I shed to witness

The cost of my salvation.

With eyes of shining love

You look down upon me;

“Do not fear, My child,

For I lead you to eternity.”

“Do not shed tears,

For You will see Me rise;

I will wipe away

Every tear from your eyes.”

“Into my Father’s hands

My Spirit I commit;

Through My Cross, child,

For Heaven you are fit.”

My own cross I will carry

Faithfully beside You;

To serve You, my Jesus,

I promise forever to do.

Though the skies are gray,

And I feel the thunder roar,

Though from my eyes

The teardrops now pour,

My heart is aflame

By love You have for me;

Sweeter love I know not

Than here on Calvary.

Yes, on this Good Friday,

On every day I shall live,

I give You all, my Jesus,

As all for me You give.
