Poetic Inspirations and Practical Applications for Blissful Living

Do You Need a Fashion Update?

Do You Need a Fashion Update Health Coach Ann Musico

Guest Post by Ann Musico: Do You Need a Fashion Up-Date?

The basis of my 3D Living Program is that we are tri-part beings:  we are spirits, we have a soul (mind, will and emotions) and we live in this physical body.

I know quite a few women who are extremely fashion conscious (including my daughter) and very knowledgeable about good clothing brands.  I don’t happen to be one of those so when they mention certain high end brand names – I have no idea what they are talking about.

However, I know when you spend a lot of money on an expensive designer outfit, you treat it differently than you would your sister’s (or brother’s) old hand-me-downs.  You are careful not to drip pizza sauce on it and if it requires dry cleaning you wouldn’t think of throwing it in the wash with your sweats.

Well, do you give as much thought to how you treat your physical body?  Most of us do not.  We put any old junk in them and expect them to not only run well, but to last us 80 or 90 years!  Most of us tend to treat these earth suits like cheap hand-me-downs, rather than the exquisitely fashioned, unique, one-of-a-kind designer originals they truly are.

If you are guilty of that – take a few minutes to thank God for the beautiful job He did in creating your body and then make a sincere effort to take better care of it.  It’s the only one you get!

Who is Jesus?

Who is Jesus Poem by Caroline Gavin of Purposeful Pathway Coaching

Who is Jesus?

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” ~ John 14:6

Who is Jesus,

Who is this Man to me?

Who is Jesus,

You ask Who is He?

He is the joy,

The light in my eyes,

He is every miracle,

Every sweet surprise,

He is the sun

Rising is the morn,

He is the smile

Of a precious newborn,

He is the hope

Restoring the heart,

He is the inspiration

Of eternal art.

He is the music,

The sound of symphony,

He is the song

That bends every knee.

He is the pathway

Leading Heaven-bound,

He is the grace

Abounding all around.

He is the life

In every heart beat,

He is the beauty

Making life sweet.

He is the truth,

All that is and will be;

He is the Word

To live all eternity.

He is God,

The Messiah, the King,

And in His hands

Goodness He does bring.

Most of all, He is love,

Love rich and pure,

Love boundless and endless,

Forever to endure.

Yes, this is Jesus,

I pray Him you see:

He is Life, Love and Light

For you and for me.

Prayer for Boston

Prayer for Boston Poem by Caroline Gavin of Purposeful Pathway Coaching

Prayer for Boston

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” ~ John 16:33

Heavy are our hearts,

How they ache you,

Wanting to believe

This tragedy not to be true.

Please know in our prayers

You are, you will be,

Each and every victim,

And every family.

Cheerful were the cries

As runners ran the race,

Yet who would know the terror

All would soon face?

May the tears we shed

And the many prayers we raise

Bring comfort to you

As gentle sunrays.

May God’s eternal arms

Wrap you with His peace

As the horror of the day

Your soul does release.

In God’s eternal heart

Please find peace and rest,

Knowing He works all things,

Even this, for best.

Those who planned this,

For you we also pray

That you may repent

And follow God’s way.

Yes, many prayers we lift,

Many tears we now shed

For those we lost,

For those who bled.

Lord, help us now,

Help us to see Your love,

Let us embrace Your mercy

Streaming from above.

Heal Boston’s wounds,

Restore her sweet joy,

Remove fear from all:

Man, woman, girl, boy.

For a race we run

One leading to eternal treasure,

And in Your presence

We find peace without measure.

You are our only hope,

Our portion for eternity,

So please bless every victim

And every family.

Yes, heavy are our hearts,

And we lift them to You,

Please heal Boston and her people

With Your love true.

Where are You, Lord?

Where are You, Lord? Poem by Caroline Gavin of Purposeful Pathway Coaching

Where are You, Lord Jesus?

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Where are You, Lord?

Where could You be?

Where are You, Lord?

Come be with me.

This pathway I cannot

Travel on my own,

This journey I cannot

Make all alone.

“My daughter, My child,

I am always here;

You need never search,

I am always near.”

“Should you feel

That I am far from you,

Remember this cannot be,

No, this cannot be true.”

“I dwell in your heart,

Yes, there I do live,

While to you many graces

I joyfully give.”

“Yet when you fear,

When you worry needlessly,

It is harder to feel

That you are close to me.”

“So I tell you now

Be at peace, My child,

Then you will feel My love,

Powerful yet mild.”

“Release your fears,

Place them in My hand;

Remember eternal good

For you I have planned.”

“Never will I leave you,

I am always by your side;

In your heart I live,

In My heart you abide.”

 I look up at You,

I savor the words You say;

Thank You for being with me

Every step of my pathway.

For this pathway I cannot

Travel on my own,

This journey I cannot

Make all alone.

Yes, thank You, Jesus,

For being here with me;

I am Yours and You are mine

For all eternity.

.

Smile amidst Trial

Smile Amidst Trial Poem by Caroline Gavin of Purposeful Pathway Coaching

Smile amidst Trial

When my heart is heavy,

When the day is gray,

When the clouds hover

On a dark stormy day,

When challenges face,

When trials are near,

When I feel in my heart

A sense of fear,

I call on Your Name,

And to me You run,

Your face more radiant

Than the midday sun.

You lift me up,

You hold me tenderly,

You remind I am Yours

For all eternity,

“What have you to worry,

My child, My friend?

 Remember My love for you

Has no end.”

“It matters not

If it does rain or shine,

You are always in My care

Perfect and divine.”

“So let Me wipe your tears,

Let me hold you near,

To My heart forever

I hold you dear.”

“No challenge, no storm,

Can stop My love for you;

I love you always,

Know this to be true.”

And as You say this,

I feel my heart smile,

Yes, I can feel pure joy

Even amidst trial.

For You are with me,

Never will You leave,

So I need not ever worry,

I need not ever grieve.

When the trials come,

I am closer to Your heart,

For You cling to me tighter

So that we never part.

Yes, my heart will be light

Even when the day is gray,

For I am with You, Jesus,

I rejoice in Your way.

Biz Tip: Journaling

Purposeful Pathway Biz Tip: Business Journaling

Business Journaling by Caroline Gavin of Purposeful Pathway Coaching

Purposeful Pathway is a haven for faith-based entrepreneurs. It is a journey in which faith and business gracefully intertwine. It is a pathway paved with purpose, peace and passion. The posts provide insights for faith-based business and also inspiration for the spiritual journey. My hope is that, in reading, your businesses will grow and your lives will be enriched. My prayer is that these messages will allow God’s peace, love and joy to pave your purposeful pathways.

Part of my mission is equipping faith-based businesses with information that is practical, actionable and Scriptural. An activity that has helped me tremendously in my business is journaling.

I have always been a journaling aficionado; writing is a powerful medium for sorting through feelings, marking progress, crystallizing lessons learned in day, meditating on God’s Word and contemplating His call in our lives. Yet only last year did I consistently journal in relation to my business. And such a blessing it has been!

For example, I journal in order to:

  1. Brainstorm about marketing and product ideas. When we are in the midst of activity during the business day, we can experience a stifling of our creativity. Journaling in the morning, before the rush of the activities, stimulates creativity in a sacred space. This is where the ideas for marketing, products and other business ventures stream freely!
  2. Sort out ideas triggered by an email, conversation or situation that occurred during the day. Switching from activity mode to contemplative thinking can put a “drag” on the momentum of a busy work day. Yet sometimes things arise that require our contemplation; it behooves us to think through these things, even if not at the moment they arise. I write down the topics, concerns or questions in my journal at those moments, and these serve as “fodder” for my journaling for the next day.
  3. Work through problems. When we are busy with our business, we simply do not have time to mull over a problem or challenge. Sometimes, of course, we have no choice. In the events where I can postpone the contemplation, I take note of the challenge(s). I then journal about the challenge(s) when I have a peaceful space to do so (generally the next morning).
  4. Vision and dream for tomorrow. The journal a phenomenal forum for planting seeds and dreams for tomorrow. When we savor a peaceful space, we can hear God’s whisper and see the visions He has placed on our hearts.
  5. Step back. Overview is the fifth step of the Live-on-P.U.R.P.O.S.E. process. Often, however, it is hard to step back when we are moving quickly in activity. Journaling gives us the precious space to step back and contemplate our goals, activities and results. We can review all of these and then make necessary adjustments along the way. This is powerful for goal achievement and business growth.
  6. See God in my business. Journaling is a wonderful way of seeing God’s hand and guidance in our businesses. We can look back on previous entries and see how He has orchestrated events, connections and inspirations in His perfect timing.
  7. Consecrate my businesses to God. Daily we can commit, in written word as well as in prayer, our lives and our businesses to God. There is power in the written word; as we physically write words, these very words etch themselves on our hearts and in our minds.

In our journaling and in all our business activities, God is always front and center. “But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.” Deuteronomy 8:18

If you are not journaling specifically for your business, I encourage you to try it. I think you will find it is a valuable tool. The list above is not comprehensive, and I would love to hear your thoughts too. How do you – or would you – use journaling in your business?

Treasures Divine

Treasures Divine

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Luke 12:34

My Master, my Friend,

My world, my sunshine,

My compass, my guide,

My pure light divine,

My life, my love,

My reason, my pathway,

The source of inspiration,

The breath for all I say,

The beauty of all I see,

The song in all I hear,

The rhythm of the waters

Splashing sweet and clear,

The strength of mountains,

The grandeur of the skies,

The music in my heartbeat,

The glimmer in my eyes,

All these are You,

Yet You are so much more,

All these are You, Jesus,

So You I adore.

Who else could be

Everything and all to me?

Who else take my hand

To lead to eternity?

None other than You,

For You are life and light;

Full of glory,

Strong with love and might.

So accept my humble heart,

I offer my all to You,

You are the reason

For all I am, all I do.

Yes, my life, my love,

My reason, my pathway,

The source of inspiration,

The breath for all I say,

All are You, Jesus,

In You are treasures divine;

Allow me to be Yours,

And please be forever mine.

God-Sized Dreams by Lisa Burkhardt Worley

Summer in my Soul - Inspirational Christian Poem by Caroline Gavin of Purposeful Pathway Christian Life Coaching www.PurposefulPathway.com

“Sunlounger on Seashore” by worradmu

Has God ever given you a dream?  Has it been realized yet?  Many times, when God plants a dream in your heart, it takes years before the dream becomes reality.

Noah worked on the ark for ninety-nine years before the rain came.

After Abraham was told by God he’d have a son, over twenty years passed before Sarah gave birth.

Ten years ago, God called me to full-time ministry as a Christian motivational speaker and author.  It was a God-sized dream I wanted to happen immediately but that didn’t occur. There were some prerequisites:  a five-year stretch in seminary, a four-year time of service in my local church and a period of humbling to remove any pride that remained from a nineteen year television career.

We should never doubt God’s ability to make his dreams for us come true.

There were many times when I wondered if this was God’s vision for my life or my vision.  I had writer’s block on the book I was writing.  Speaking engagements weren’t flooding in. Did I really hear the call right?

However, this past summer, the Lord told me it’s time to take my ministry, Pearls of Promise, outside the church walls. Even though I had another book manuscript almost completed, he told me to put together a devotional book that would include devotions from authors all over the country. The devotional “pearls” would be designed to encourage women and to remind them about how much God loves them. It was a perfect project for my spiritual gifts of “shepherding” and “exhortation.”

This past week, we made our first marketing trip to promote the Pearl of Promise devotional. During one of my quiet times while on the road, I began to reflect on the many doors the Lord opened while there: radio and newspaper interviews, we placed the book in numerous locations, a friend provided us with a place to stay, and at one point, the manager of a Christian bookstore, that provided us with a room to relax and pray, told us to consider their store our home away from home if we ever need a place to meet and relax.  God was providing for us like he provided for the early disciples.

The love God showed us through others was overwhelming and when I realized the dream was now reality, I began to weep and praise God.

If God has given you a dream, don’t give up on it. God-sized dreams take time but they will happen in the Lord’s timing. All you have to do is trust God and do the work the dream requires.
