The aroma of apple pie

Wafts in the air,

Sounds of stories

Around the table to share,

Praise and prayer,

Laughter and song:

Here with my family,

Here I belong.

Thanks be to our God

For all He does give,

Thanks be to our God

For this life we live.

How blessed we are

To gather here each year,

To create memories

With those we hold dear.

How precious it is

To be with one another:

Mother and father,

Sister and brother.

Throughout the festivity,

The turkey and pie,

Our hearts are raised

To God, the Most High.

Yet when the day ends,

When we must part,

Surely Thanksgiving

Still lives in the heart.

Give thanks we shall

Each and every day;

Let us glorify God

In all we do and say.

Thanksgiving is not a day

But a state of mind;

Let us live gratefully,

Being humble and kind.

Thankful for Jesus Christ

Above all let us be:

 His death on the Cross

Gave us life eternally.

So Thanksgiving Day

And indeed forevermore

Let us sing praises

To the One we adore.

With praise and prayer,

Laughter and song,

We rejoice in Jesus,

For with Him we belong.

And as aroma of apple pie

Wafts in the air,

We savor Christ’s love,

Sweet beyond compare.

I am still learning to maintain a consistent thankful heart. But I like to think about all the times He has come through in the past: miracles , divine appts, etc. But most importantly I believe we should dwell upon God Creator taking on flesh and living a sinless (hard to do)
life, and then dyiing a suffering death for us.. Thank You Jesus ! There is a Cross involved
in our walks…Jesus did not have to do what He did. Thank You Jesus Saviour !

Thank you so much for your heartfelt comment! It is, as you wrote, very helpful for us to remember all that the Lord has done for us…and to remember, most of all, how the Word became Flesh, dwelt among us, and died for our salvation. Praise Jesus for converting our crosses to crowns when we remain faithful to Him! May He continue to bless you and inspire you, Stephen; you are a blessing to me and to many! God’s graces and my gratitude, Caroline
