Heaven’s Gate

Heaven’s Gate

“There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.” Revelation 22:8

If you only knew

The treasures that await

For you, My precious child,

Behind Heaven’s gate.

If you could imagine

The diamonds and the gems,

The hills and mountains,

The roses and blossoms,

The waterfalls and streams,

The eternal Sunlight,

The glory of the days,

The absence of night,

The songs of birds,

The lamb’s dance with the lion,

The peace, the joy, the love

Of Eternal Zion.

If you only knew,

My child, you would not fear,

For you would remember

All your treasure is there.

So I ask you for a moment

To come be with Me,

Close your eyes right now,

Envision eternity.

For there in Heaven

Is your beautiful treasure,

Sweeter than your dreams,

Rich beyond measure.

Jewels of every color,

Water running crystal clear,

Fellowship and praise

With your siblings dear,

And also My presence,

For Heaven is where I AM,

I am the Alpha and Omega,

The Lion and The Lamb.

Smile in this vision,

Rejoice forever to know

That Heaven is yours

Because Me you follow.

My child, imagine

The diamonds and the gems,

The hills and mountains,

The roses and blossoms,

And keep your eyes fixed

On treasures that await

For you, My precious child,

Behind Heaven’s gate.

[Guest Post] What’s for Dinner?

What’s for Dinner?

Guest post by Mike Fenton of Heart and Soul Heath Coaching

“Happiness is more than good health and a bad memory.”

– Mike Fenton, Heart & Soul Health Coach

We spend a lot of time trying to eat the right foods because; too much of this raises my cholesterol or too much of that gives me high blood pressure. Those are all good things to keep in mind when feeding our “physical” bodies especially because when watching what we eat can keep us OFF the prescription medications.

However we must also think about our need to provide food for our soul! Food for the soul comes in many forms as it is something we do that makes us feel good inside or perhaps enlightened after doing it. It may come in the form of reading a good book that has a positive or inspiring message. The Bible is one of those books which provide great optimism for the future.  For example, 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV) gives great focus in (18) “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal”.

A warm or inspiring conversation with a friend or loved one can feed our soul. Or how about the great feeling we get after doing something that is for the benefit of someone else? Giving to a favorite charity or doing volunteer work? All are great food for the soul and things that make us feel better about ourselves while at the same time helping others.

However it is we like to provide food for our soul we must always understand the importance of it. By feeding the soul through reading scripture we can find both strength and rest through inner peace. We find strength in Isaiah 40:29 (NIV) which says (29) “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak” and we can find peace in Matthew 11:29 (NIV) which says to (29) “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls”.

So the next time you’re wondering “what’s for dinner” take a moment to think about what am I going to feed my soul?

May Reflection: Romans 8:10 (NLT) (10) “And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God”.  Romans 8:11 (NLT) (11) “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you”.

Sing of Jesus

Sing of Jesus

“Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!” Psalm 95:2

With lyrics of love,

With symphony sweet,

Filling my heart,

Moving my feet,

With songs of joy,

With psalms of adoration,

Inspiring praise,

Creating celebration,

With hymns of Heaven,

With angelic chorus,

Reminding me of all

You do for us,

I sing to You

With all of my being;

You are all I am knowing,

Breathing and seeing.

Your musical notes

Grace everything I see,

Your kiss of Heaven

Gives a taste of eternity.

You are my song,

You are my pure delight,

You are the Sun

Overcoming the night.

Jesus, sweet Jesus,

Your Name is symphony;

I thank You for being

Everything to me.

You are my Song,

My Psalm of adoration,

The Source of my praise

And sweet celebration,

So with lyrics of love,

With symphony sweet,

I sing of my Jesus

To all whom I meet.

How to Make a Decision

How to Make a Decision

How to Make a Decision

Image courtesy Whittaya Phonsowat of www.freedigitalphotos.net

Enjoy the guest post below written by my dear friend Joel Boggess of Finding Your Voice Radio:

In the first phase of her relationship, she did the lion’s share of the heavy lifting: paid the bills; made the mortgage and kept up with appearances and responsibilities.

While she was doing what she knew had to be done, like a butterfly lost in the wind, her health, temperament and patience were being swept away.

She was educated, well liked and very practical in her ideas and actions. Shelly also knew she was on earth for a reason and part of some bigger plan; she just couldn’t figure out where to look or how to start.

When she and I first started working together, like she had done for most of her adult life, she tried to apply the “rules” and “conditions” she had picked up along the way; hoping they would help her make better sense out of the mixed messages her body and spirit were sending her.

In her own words, she was “stuck” and was ready to use whatever lever was needed to pry loose.

My challenge to Shelly: “Feel your way through”.

Here’s what I mean – While most of us learn to rely on our understanding, knowledge and intellect to resolve challenges and to solve problems, we’re often also taught to ignore, sideline, or distract ourselves from the emotional hints, clues, and reminders that are pointing us to a better direction.

As logical thinkers and hands-on doers, many of us have lost touch with the triggers that are embedded in the essence of who we are. And, unfortunately, the consequences of editing or denying one’s own feelings come with a hefty price tag – spiritual unrest, migraines, a loss of hope or worse.

How do you make the best decision? Develop a healthy trust in your emotional conversation; learn from its clues and act on its cues.

There’s an ancient Script that says “out of the heart flow the springs of life”. Your emotions and God, live in your heart.

Here are three easy-to-use ideas that will help you reconnect with God, your emotional guidance system and the next, right decision for you.

  • Put yourself on a low information diet.

For many families, it’s a generational habit – watch the morning news for a recap, watch the evening news for the latest. That’s what mom, dad, grandma and grandpa did.

The challenge we face today, one that grandma never saw coming, is that the “news” is no longer waiting for us, it is now coming at us. And, as the demands are continually being raised for our time and attention, continuous streams of information have overloaded our capacity and spun us into non-stop reaction mode.

Thought-starters – Risk missing the latest from the “situation room” and turn off the TV. You won’t let your kid watch certain programs. Guess what? The inner child in you, needs that same sort of protection. Be willing to curb the social media urge – Build boundaries around your email, Facebook, and other pinging, ringing distractions.

Many people fill their lives with noise to escape their true, innermost feelings. Do yourself and your family a wonderful service, don’t be one of them.

  • Take time for your life.

For some, the words meditation or reflective prayer, conjure images of yogis sitting in the lotus position for hours on end. If contortions aren’t your thing, don’t worry. My wife, Pei, is a yoga devotee. She will tell you that you don’t need a mat to clear your mind, to get in touch with what stirs you. All you need is a little time and a quiet space.

Quick-start idea: Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down. Then, for ten minutes, clear your mind and focus on your breathing. Once you get the rhythm of your breathing down (it will probably happen around the count of ten or twenty) thoughts will begin to fill the space you just created. Choose a thought that brings you hope and joy. Explore through it. If your thought, idea, or fantasy moves you deeply, stay with it. Don’t wander off. Resist the temptation to grade or analyze the value or worth of what you are feeling.

Be fully present and allow yourself to be lost in the experience.

Thought starters – How creative will you let yourself be? Will you dim the lights? Use candles? Play soft music? Have a partner? This is a wonderful opportunity to give yourself the gift of a real moment.

Scientists say that people who regularly meditate learn how to handle life with less stress and often experience relief from chronic pain and other medical  & psychological problems. Results from a medical study show that meditation decreases the frequency of menopausal women’s hot flashes by an average of 39%.

  • Be childlike.

When a little girl or boy walks up to a playground, they’re not judging, criticizing or thinking about the end result. Their eyes are full of possibilities and opportunities.  Their attention and energy are focused on the experience.

Throw out the rulebook, detach yourself from the outcome and do something simply for the fun of it.

You are welcome to do these steps in order, backward or in any combination or sequence you’d like. Learning how to touch your emotions and feel your way through is not about following rigid, step-by-step instructions, it’s about exploration, growth, and development.

Biz Tip: Systematically Stepping Back

Systematically Stepping Back by Caroline Gavin of Purposeful Pathway Coaching

Purposeful Pathway Biz Tip: Systematically Stepping Back

Purposeful Pathway is a haven for faith-based entrepreneurs. It is a journey in which faith and business gracefully intertwine. It is a pathway paved with purpose, peace and passion. The posts provide insights for faith-based business and also inspiration for the spiritual journey. My hope is that, in reading, your businesses will grow and your lives will be enriched. My prayer is that these messages will allow God’s peace, love and joy to pave your purposeful pathways.

Part of my mission is equipping faith-based businesses with information that is practical, actionable and Scriptural.

The focus of this “Biz Tip” is systematically stepping back.

Stepping back periodically before stepping forward is essential.

Once you have you have clarified and defined your goals, researched how to achieve your goals, and created / implemented an action plan, you will find it beneficial to periodically step back to take an overview of your goals, activities, habits and results.

Our habits, healthy as they may be, can blind us from the bigger picture. We can become so engrossed in action that we forget to step back and see from a bird’s-eye view the overall picture. Getting lost in a sequence of activities leaves us narrow-sighted, and we can reach a point where our actions are no longer fully aligned with our goals.

Perfectionists, in particular, beware! It is tempting to want to perfectly complete all your action steps to the point of not stepping back and redirecting focus when need be. As someone who struggles from this firsthand, I encourage you to remember that it is necessary to step back from time to time at the risk of disrupting the “perfection” of your routine.

Actions Steps:

  1. Schedule time for stepping back: This step may seem obvious, but it is crucial; without scheduling the time we will subsequently find that we do not have the time. Carve the space for overview.
  2.  Dig deep during our “stepping back” session: Question what is working effectively in your business or ministry. Then, on the other side of the coin, question what is not.
  3. Evaluate results, goals, activities and habits: Determine which, if any, of your goals, activities or habits needs adjustment
  4. Commit to implementing adjustments where necessary: More often than not, you will find adjustments are required in one or more areas. Commit in prayer and in writing to make these changes.
  5. Petition God: Ask the Lord for clarity in your overview and for courage to create changes.

The Lord says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways.” (Isaiah 55:8) Rely on God to make clear what is working and what is not. Rely on Him to direct your paths. Rely on Him to transform you for His glory. He sees things from an eternal perspective; He sees your life interwoven with others in the glorious tapestry of all lives. Trust, therefore, in Him to guide you in your overview.

By adjusting activities, habits and goals, distractions are immediately cleared away; this allows greater achievement. Furthermore, by gaining control and clarity rather than getting lost in a cloud of activities, you will experience deeper joy.

Psalm 97:11 encourages us that “light is shed upon the righteous and joy on the upright in heart.” When we are living for God, when we are walking toward goals which glorify Him, He Himself sheds light on our paths and joy on our hearts. He will give us the grace to systematically and joyfully step back.

How does systematically stepping back work for you?

Mother’s Day Poem

Mothers Day Poem by Caroline Gavin of Purposeful Pathway Coaching

Mother’s Day Poem

“’Many women do noble things,

    but you surpass them all.’

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;

but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” Proverbs 31:29-30

Graced with wisdom,

Filled with love,

Reflecting light

Of heaven above,

Tender and kind,

Compassionate and pure,

With strong patience

In all things to endure,

Quick to encourage,

Happy to guide,

Sweet with praise,

Always by my side,

Such is my Mother,

She is rich in beauty,

Shining with Jesus

For all to see.

For her I give thanks,

For her I do pray,

How I treasure her love,

Every word she does say.

Lord God, thank You

For Mothers You give,

Sweetening the moments

In lives we live.

This Mothers Day

And every day too,

I give thanks for my Mother,

I give thanks to You.

So join me, my friends,

Sisters and brothers,

Let us celebrate

The gifts of our Mothers.

Graced with wisdom,

Overflowing with love,

Reflecting light

Of heaven above,

Such are our Mothers,

So rich in beauty:

Treasures from Jesus

For you, for me.

Renewed by You

Soaring in Spirit Poem by Caroline Gavin of Purposeful Pathway Coaching

Renewed by You

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” ~ Revelation 21:5

As the leaves bud,

As the grass does grow,

As flowers bloom

Where once was snow,

I see so radiantly

That all things You renew,

Just as You promise

You always will do.

Like the leaves of green,

Like blossoms of red,

I find renewal

In the blood You shed.

For it is the lifeblood

For me, for everyone;

It is the lifeblood

Of all under the sun.

Without You, Jesus,

We could not live;

We breathe only

By the mercy You give.

So take my heart,

Make me more like You,

My spirit and my mind,

My soul renew.

Your praises I sing

With all of the earth,

For how precious is life,

How sweet is rebirth.

Yes, I am Yours,

My life You renew,

Just as You promise

You always will do.

And as leaves bud,

As the grass does grow,

I rejoice in the renewal

Through You I know.
